What city do you recall when you think about gambling games? Las Vegas, which is in America. And it’s true that American people like gambling. But nowadays more and more people in the United States prefer online gambling sites (online casinos and online poker rooms), though the question of legalization of Internet gambling games is still open. As a result, playing at Internet casinos, millions of Americans aren’t confirmed of the legality of their conduct.
Ipsos, a global research company, made a research to find out Americans’ awareness of the illegal status of Internet gambling. 1006 US adults were interviewed through the Internet this winter. The results are that over the past two years less Americans aware of the illegal status of Internet gambling. Only 37% of respondents were aware that Internet gambling is illegal.
The study also shows the growing interest of the US people to allowing Internet gambling with proper regulation (49% of interviewed). Thus 55% of study participants are for the regulation of gambling games by the federal government. 45% of respondents are sure that the laws regulating Internet gambling should be passed at the state level.
Anyway, Americans are in favor of playing online gambling games. As Paul Lauzon, senior VP of Ipsos said “If Internet gambling were to be permitted and regulated by some form of government, 13 percent agreed they probably or definitely would spend money on this type of activity during the next 12 months."
